Experience an Epicurean Wine Adventure in the Lavaux

17 June 2023 – Lavaux

Join the Cornell Club of Switzerland for an exclusive wine event in the heart of the Lavaux region, where the terraced vineyards are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

We will be hosted by Sommelier and Wine Educator, Marc Checkley, for a special “meet the winemaker” gourmet event.

All About Vines and Wine

We begin with a leisurely stroll through these panoramic vineyards, discovering stories of their origins and wine styles. Arriving in the quaint village of Rivaz, we are welcomed by winemaker Titouan Briaux at Domaine Chaudet

The afternoon will unfold with a private gathering on the terrace, right on the edge of Lake Geneva, enjoying tours of the cellar, a gourmet barbecue, and tastings of Chaudet’s exquisite white and red wines.

Adding to the fun, there will be wine trivia challenges and you’ll learn how to taste wine like a sommelier! It will truly be a memorable experience, not to be missed this summer!

About our Host, Marc Checkley

Originally from New Zealand, Marc’s entry into the professional world of wine took an unusual route. Following 10 years in Asia, producing and directing a number of food and travel TV series for international channels/brands, Marc relocated to Switzerland. Here, he blends his passion for storytelling with his love and fascination with wine.

Marc is a WSET-qualified wine & spirits educator/consultant and he hosts various wine tasting and education events in Europe, the UK, and the Asia-Pacific. He is an international wine judge, a Champagne Master (WSG), and a Swiss Wine Ambassador. Marc also hosts/produces a popular video series for revered food and wine brand Gault&Millau.

History of Domaine Chaudet

In 1912, Emile Chaudet, then a farmer in Puidoux, decided to devote himself solely to the magnificent work of the vineyard. He acquired the Domaine du Grillon, the 9th century winegrower’s house, and the vines that surround it, including a dowry of the most prestigious appellation, Dézaley.

Five generations later, Titouan Briaux, hand in hand with his parents, has continued the family winemaking tradition. The wines are nothing but the reflection of those who work them, precise, passionate, and honest, but still with their own personality. In 2020, Titouan co-launched New York City’s first wine bar devoted to the wines of Lavaux and of course fondue! A two-week reservation period is a common occurrence currently.

Be sure to register by 9 June 2023 to ensure a place for you! The event can take place rain or shine. Comfortable walking shoes are suggested.
