1 April 2023
On Saturday, April 1st, the Cornell Club of Switzerland organized an afternoon event around Switzerland’s most famous food: cheese and chocolate!
Maison Cailler Tour

We started the afternoon with a visit of Maison Cailler, in the canton of Fribourg, Switzerland. Sixteen club members got a chance to visit the facilities, which included a historical tour reviewing the history of chocolate from its origins in Mesoamerica to today, a view of the ingredients of chocolate, the machinery used to manufacture them, and a chance to taste a broad variety of Cailler chocolates, from white to milk to dark. Of course, no museum visit these days is complete without a mandatory passage through the museum shop, where every imaginable chocolate variety of the Cailler brand was available for purchase.

Strolling Through The Historical Village
With our tummies happily fulfilled, we drove to the nearby village of Gruyères. We had a chance to walk in the small fortified town and around its castle, and to roam the village shops.

Sharing A Fondue Together
To continue with our Swiss culinary infusion, we gathered at the Auberge de la Halle restaurant, where, around a large table we all sat down for a fabulous cheese fondue.

Away we dipped our bread in the melted cheese with our long forks and enjoyed a relaxing conclusion to another great event of the Cornell Club of Switzerland.
