Explore the Paul Cézanne exhibition at the Fondation Beyeler in Basel

The Cornell Club of Switzerland invites you to a private, English-language guided tour of the Paul Cézanne exhibition at the Fondation Beyeler, on Saturday, 21 March 2026.

About the Fondation Beyeler

The museum in Riehen near Basel is internationally renowned for its outstanding exhibitions, significant collection of classical modernism and contemporary art, and its ambitious event program. Today, the Fondation Beyeler’s collection includes more than 400 works by 91 artists. Each year, curated exhibitions present works from the collection alongside loans from other museums or private collections. The museum building, designed by Renzo Piano, is situated idyllically in a park with mature trees and lily ponds.

About the exhibition and tour

For the first time in its history, the Fondation Beyeler presents a major exhibition devoted to Paul Cézanne, a pioneer of modern art and one of the most influential artists represented in the museum’s collection. The exhibition concentrates on the final and most significant phase of Cézanne’s career, exploring the key themes of his later years, including still lifes, portraits, landscapes, and scenes of bathers.

Bringing together around 80 oil paintings and watercolors, the exhibition offers a vivid insight into Cézanne’s groundbreaking exploration of form, light, and color. These works reveal the artistic innovations that reshaped the course of modern art and continue to inspire generations of artists to this day.

Following the museum visit, for those who wish to join us, we will continue with an early dinner at the nearby Wiesengarten Musetti. The restaurant features an authentic Italian cuisine, inspired by seasonal fresh products and a wine list that includes many regions of Italy. In addition to the main menu, daily specials are communicated at the table.

The dinner can be booked separately from the tour for those who would like to join the group but cannot make the museum visit.
