Gorge du Gottéron – Fribourg

Each year, Cornellians and friends gather for a scenic and social day outdoors, thanks to the thoughtful planning of Jürg. For the 2025 edition of our annual hike, we’ll explore the picturesque city of Fribourg and venture through the dramatic Gorge du Gottéron, returning by way of a panoramic path above the Old Town.

Known for its beautifully preserved medieval architecture, Fribourg is a city full of surprises. Our route begins in the Old Town and descends into the mysterious Gottéron Gorge—once feared by knights who believed a dragon lived within. After winding through the gorge and across tranquil meadows, we will return to Fribourg for optional refreshments in a local restaurant.

There are more wonderful stories to uncover in Jürg’s invitation!
