Welcome our New Board Members
We extend a warm welcome to Petra Kneisel (B.A. 1990 in Russian Literature and German Area Studies), Kirk Haselton (M.S. 1988 in Applied Physics, Ph.D. 2001 in Applied Physics), and Maria Franceschi (dedicated volunteer since 2001).
Petra will assist Bernie with the accounting responsibilities, which have been adapted over the past year with the introduction of our new website. Her title is Treasurer-Elect.
Kirk has taken over the reins as Geneva Lead, previously held by Ramon Portas (B.S. 1996 Mechanical Engineering). A big Thank You to Ramon for his dedication to the Club over the years!
Maria is taking on a newly created role as Social Media Officer to continue the great work she has done for us on LinkedIn. She has expanded her responsibilities to include revitalizing Facebook and creating an Instagram account for the Club.

Changing Board Members' Roles
Lhney Steiner (B.S. 1996, MBA 2006), who joined the board last year to create the website, will take on a new focus to increase our Club's membership. Her title is Membership Officer & Website Lead.
Rose-Marie Meier (Post-Doc 1992-1994 in Chemistry) is taking on a new role as Website Assistant. She will help Lhney with the admin side of our site creating new posts and events.
J?rg Hari (MBA 1994), who held the position of President Emeritus, will be the Club's auditor. Due to the nature of this role, J?rg has stepped down from the board to fulfil his new duties.

Donations Are Approved

It was a big decision for our Club! With the modernization efforts, it is no surprize that we have increased costs.
At the 37th Annual General Meeting, we voted and agreed to accept donations to the Cornell Club of Switzerland. You will see donations added to the right side-menu of some pages and in the shopping cart when checking out.
We have already received a donation! Thank you to this wonderful donor and their family for supporting the Club!

First Event of 2024

The Cornell Club of Switzerland will visit CERN in Geneva to discover some of the cutting-edge research that is undergoing at this amazing facility. We will visit the LHCb (Large Hadron Collider beauty experiment) and the Antimatter Factory.
The event is so successful that, through word-of-mouth, it was sold out in 36 hours - before we even could send out this newsletter!
Given the high demand, we are in discussions to offer the same event in January 2025. Stay tuned!

The Cornell Club of Switzerland had the fantastic opportunity to connect with Erin Kelly, Director of International Alumni Relations.
We would like to thank Erin for including us in her trip to Europe. We look forward to welcoming Erin again in Switzerland in the near future, hopefully during one of our fabulous events!

We have noticed a slight drop in our dues-paying membership this year. We realize when life gets busy, it's easy to forget. We hope you can take a moment and pay your dues this week.
