Join us for Chocolate and Fondue in Gruyère!

1 April 2023 – Gruyère

The Cornell Club of Switzerland invites you to visit the beautiful medieval town of Gruyère with its 13th-century château perched on a hilltop overlooking the lush mountain meadows, which became the birthplace of milk chocolate and the king of Swiss cheeses.

A Chocolate-Lovers Dream!

We begin this excursion touring La Maison Cailler in Broc to discover the ancient history of chocolate dating back to the Aztec cocoa ceremonies leading up to the innovations involved in chocolate-making today in Switzerland.  There will be plenty of opportunities to taste their chocolate creations at the end of the visit in their tasting room filled with a dizzying array of varieties and flavors.  Remember these two words of advice… pace yourself!   It’s an indulgent experience!

Afterward, we make our way to the old village of Gruyère where we will stroll through the picturesque streets.  A perfect place to purchase their famous crisp meringues and fresh double cream to take home to spoil your family and friends.

A Fondue in the heart of Gruyère

We will have dinner in the heart of the village at Auberge de la Halle where we will enjoy the quintessential fondue made with their iconic Gruyère cheese. A fondue experience to remember!
